Barış Koşucu / They Start A War Against Roma 06/12/2010

France government is carrying out a policy which is completely the most shamefull one of their history these days. You see, the "racist" leader, i am using this adjective without any doubt, is deporting Roma people from his country. As if Roma went there because they like the country too much.

Roma are "stormy petrels" and "ramblers" and his deportation policy is a kind of national war according to Sarkozy. He started the same national war against Algerians, Tunusians and Turks before.

However he is indimidating Romania without shame. "If you don't keep behind Roma, forget about Shengen." And the minister of immigration, Eric Besson adds: "8000 Roman were deported voluntarily." What a nonsense! Did they decide to be deported alltogether?

There are almost 400000 Roma in France and 12000 of this population came from Bulgaria and Romania. Why do they live their own country and go to the west? To reach better life conditions. Because governments of their own countries also don't want them. Is poverty, unemployment, incurability and being statelessness is destiny of them? Aren't they being accepted as second class citizens even here, in Turkey. Is it true?

There is no need to extoll the virtues of Roma people for playing sympathy to make them accepted by the society. This is not a true strategy. They have to be the first class citizens where they live in with their pearls and pitfalls. They have the right for this like everybody. Because, they are human beings like you. Roma children are not lucky as our children. First of all, they face social problems of their country. They are in solidarity with only eachother. Because nobody else want to be in solidarity with them. This is also true for governments.

They blame Roma to stole and prostution. This is what Sarkozy says. If you don't employ them, if i don't employ them; if you defraud their opportunity to have a better life; if you imprison them in darkness; what are you waiting from them? How could they survive?

Do Sarkozy, who carry out policies of the second world war, know the situation of Roma who are trying to survive under terrible circumstances of hungar, poor housing conditions and unemployment. How could he know? He is making fun with his famous girl friend...
